The First Contact Safety Tips feature has been activated within the University’s Exchange Online email system. This feature is designed to improve protection against online threats such as phishing attacks, fraudulent emails and other forms of cyber attacks.
The First Contact Safety Tips feature automatically adds alerts to emails received from senders with whom you have had no or minimal contact. This informs you of potential risks and urges caution when dealing with emails from unknown or less frequently used addresses.
If the sender has secured their email using S/MIME (Secure/Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions) technology, First Contact Safety Tips does not insert any warning in the message, as such secured messages already provide an additional level of verifiable trust.
By activating this feature, we are responding to the growing number of cyber threats and trying to improve user protection against phishing and other fraudulent practices. The alert will help to better identify risky messages and avoid dangerous situations that can compromise data or the security of the entire information system.
We believe that this new feature will help improve your cybersecurity and help you work more securely with your email communications.
Thank you for taking care of your cybersecurity!
