On 20 June 2024, the options for two-factor authentication in Microsoft 365 will be restricted. As of this date, you will not be able to use SMS messages or phone calls to register a second factor. Windows Hello, FIDO2 security key, Microsoft Authenticator and third-party software OATH tokens will remain available as alternatives. We recommend the use of Microsoft Authenticator due to the enhanced security and functionality available. This tool enables Password Less Authentication and can use the current GPS location to identify the location, which helps to better protect against unauthorized access. Users who have unsupported two-factor authentication types set up will be notified of this change in a timely manner.
